While waiting for the video to load =x , I browsed through some of the comments. I guess those who slammed the poster make some sense. It is FHM afterall. Even if the category is Girl next door, how 'clean' and 'fair maiden' can it be?
In my teaching school last year, one of my colleagues confiscated an FHM magazine she found in her sec 1 class. The student wasn't reading it. She just confiscated it when she saw it, because she felt 13 year old kids shouldn't be reading such 'thrash'. I'm not sure if as teachers we have the right to do so though.
Comments? (Actually why is this post here. Now I have to link it to SS!)
Hmm.. maybe we can take this as an opportunity to teach the kids some values =x Society's fixed perceptions, norms and notions of beauty etc.

Herk, Herk, Herk...
Everything's related to SS, don't you know? :p
Anyway, I think your colleague missed out on a golden opportunity to teach the class about morals and values. Not saying that one is without morals if he reads FHM. Just that it would've been good to use that moment to discuss social issues with the class, such as feminism and the media's portrayal of women.

Yup yup.. i agree with Ally... Something out of SS, I wouldn't slam the DJs for doing that as it's FHM and the girls should know what they were in for.. I would rather slam the girls for agreeing to take part in this.. Am I being kinda extreme? But it always takes 2 palms to clap.. No one is forcing the girls to unhook their bras right???

Actually, I will slam the radio station instead cause I don't think that there's anything wrong with taking part in the Girl Next Door competition in the first place. And these type of stunts are part and parcel of a FHM competition. If the stunt is held at some club, at FHM events, and reported in the FHM, I doubt many people will object to it. FHM is *supposed* to be having these kind of stunts, after all.
But 98.7 is a radio station that has a varied audience and it's supposed to be family-friendly? There's really no need for such a stunt to be broadcasted on national radio. Pointless and tasteless, really.
And yeah, it's related to SS, under Personal Development. Or Informed Social Criticism. Or Reflective Inquiry. =p
